I am devoting teaching and research since couple of years. So, my experienced has taught me many things regarding the procedure of publication of research findings in a journals. Sometimes, I am frustrated to being a researcher, because many good journals asking processing fee to published my hard gain findings. Even, I know people not hegitate to put question marks on paid journals.
Therefore, I sincerely appeal you all to put your comments and healthy discussion on this.
I understand that you are a new entrant in plant taxonomic research and you have a long career ahead. Thus you need not be discouraged. If you can afford, you pay and publish. If not, then there are so many national and international journals wherein you can publish free of cost but may be of locked access. It is quality of your manuscript that matters, e.g. a new record for a state may not be considered. When you gain considerable experience, doors of all good journals will open for you and even paid journal will fully waive publication fees.
..... On the contrary there are many good journals which publish papers without any cost. I would suggest to pay only in case of urgency, Suppose you immediately need a couple of publications prior to thesis submission, then go for it.
