Fermentation is carried out in 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask with working volume of 100 ml and initial glucose of 2%. The fermentation occurred at 30 degrees celcius, 150 rpm.
In my analysis using GC, included GC EtOH standard (99.9%) i have obtained approximately 0.84 g. Is this amount correct? Please assit me.

Fermentation of glucose follows the reaction C6H12O6 -> 2C2H5OH +2CO2. For a complete reaction, from 2 g glucose you can obtain 1.02 g ethanol. This means 1.02% in your working volume of 100 ml. Your result indicates that you had a glucose transformation yield of 82.3%.
The answer of Dr. Carmen Mateescu is correct. Your yield of ethanol is realy 82.3 % which is very good result.

Sugar (eg glucose) to ethanol conversion around 85% suggests a good fermentation efficiency. During fermentation, by-products and microbial cell mass generation result into some substrate loss.
Theoretically the maximum alcohol yields from glucose can be 51.1%.
In your case it is 42% which is 82.19% yield based upon theoretical yields .
please correct me if i am wrong .. is it true that fermenting glucose needs anaerobic conditions? .. so how u left most of the flask empty and shake it at 150rpm that for sure will introduce more oxygen deviating fermentation to TCA cycle!
