It is well recognized that conduction velocity measurements in single afferent fibres using electrical or mechanical stimuli at the receptive field do not necessarily correspond with those obtained by electrical stimulation of the nerve trunk.
The differences are thought to be due to axonal tapering, branch points and transducer delay (in case of mechanical stimulation at the receptive field).
Have anyone put a value (ms) on this conduction delay? Any modeling studies, that is, where these may have been explored.
