I know well that we scholars have a responsibility to contribute to the academic society as a peer reviewer for free. I understand its importance. I would just like to know how many reviews are appropriate to meet the responsibility as a scholar. I commonly accepted 7~10 review invitations per year.
It depends on many factors, even for one researcher, such as availability and willingness. So for me, In a year I took 5 reviews and in another, I took 20. I do not think there is or should be a limit, as long as you provide well-structured, comprehensive, constructive reviews that can really help the journal editor, as well as the authors.

Good question. I usually review about 5 articles a year. Although there will be a large number of invitation letters for review, but there are actually very few articles that can be given substantive help after the assessment. Hence, the number of reviews accepted is very small.
I have taken 5 reviews since anymore would infringe on my academic duties to the university.
