In other words, do you feel that sometimes in the next 25 years our science, as a whole, will head in a *radically* new direction?
One of the main sources of the scientific 'crisis' came to the fore in the second half of the last century. With the advent of computers and the emergence of various "data processing" fields, "the mind"---intentionally excluded from the scientific agenda by the fathers of the Scientific Revolution (mainly of the 16th--17th centuries)---has been permanently brought into the focus. And the fundamental inadequacy of our scientific knowledge became apparent when the urgent need for intelligent information processing could not be satisfied.
Please, do not respond if you *strongly* disagree with that 'forecast', since it is clear that the majority of scientists are supposed to disagree with it. ;--)
Note that within physics, for example, string theory is a *weak* manifestation of such intuitions.
What are the implications for our research agendas and for the courses we teach?
Should we have special conferences and journals devoted to the relevant scientific discussions?
