Since we are presently at the threshold of such transitional period of unprecedented, non-incremental, changes in science, the successful resolution of this issue will facilitate the initiation of this transitional period and hence is of critical importance to the economy of each individual country as well as to our society as a whole (by saving untold billions of dollars, but most importantly, considerably speeding up the overall economic development).

Also, there are reasons to believe that such new scientific developments will radically change both our cultural and moral milieus, so their facilitation is of much greater importance.
