So 2000 molecules and one molecule chlorophyll absorbs one photon according to the photodynamic law.
The active antenna is not such large. I do not know values up to 2000 however from diffusive radius of the exciton the possible "functionally coupled" complex contains 12-24 LHCII trimers equalling less than 1000 chlorophyll molecules. Our results implied that the physical size of an antenna system beyond the numbers of such a functional domain size has little or no effect on improving the light-harvesting efficiency.

The antennae of plants consist of a large number of protein-bound chlorophyll molecules that absorb photons and transfer their energy to the reaction centre. 300 chlorophyll molecules are associated with one reaction center. These are constituents of the antennae. The antennae contain additional accessory pigments such as carotenoids, mainly xanthophylls, including lutein and the related violaxanthinas well as carotenes (Reference: Plant Biochemistry Hans-Walter Heldt)

– It contain Chlorophyll a at 700 nm or P700
– 200 chlorophyll a molecules as antenna
Pigment system II (PS-II)
– P680 + 200 chlorophyll
– Chlorophyll b (small amount)
– 50 carotenoids mainly xanthophylls
– 4 PQ, 2 cyt b559
– 6 Mn per molecule of Chl a680

There are already published studies on that interesting topic. Although they are old but it has been reported that nearly 2480 chlorophyll molecules were involved in the reduction of one molecule of CO2 in green algae. It depends on the number of cells and the light source but an average of 2480 involved molecules is carefully reported.
