I would like to add to above, that we in my country (Iraq) follow the approach that the college or university is committed to taking out the theses. There are usually three chapters, the results with the conclusions in one chapter, which is the final chapter.

Certainly, there is no specific number of dissertation chapters. It depends on your recent scientific contribution ( articles). In fact we have common chapters ( INTRODUCTION-1, LITERATURE REVIEW-2 AND METHODOLOGIES-3). Other than these you may add two or three more chapters.
But technical theses might have way more chapters - depending on the matter: A clear structuring is more important than some "cemented" number of chapters.
