I am currently writing my proposal and I wanted to define a duration period for my pilot study. My pilot study will be a "feasibility" study and it will help me to define a couple of things for the main study. My main study is a year-long intervention with children with autism. So, how can i determine the pilot study's duration? And maybe if you can suggest me some theses that has a pilot and a main study in it, just to see how it is formed, I would be much appreciated. This study I published had a pilot study (described under 'Research Questions') However, I'm not sure how relevant it is to your specific situation because it was not an intervention study. The pilot study was completed in just under one semester. In my experience, most pilot studies do not take more than a few months to complete if you are just trying out some instruments and investigating the feasibility of your study. Kenan, pilot studies are supposed to test the extent to which your proposed set of questions and data collection instruments are capable of producing relatively sufficient, valid and reliable materials for your study you intend to undertake. The duration depends on the extent to which this purpose has been achieved in order to amend, where appropriate, the data collection instrument(s).
