Thinking about the interpersonal relationship that exist between students and teachers. How long can the relationship be? Are you still in close or seemingly remote contact with your formal students or teachers?
To get the best results out of the teaching process, i think that there must be a kind of close relation between the teacher and the students. I myself treat them as my children. And years after their graduation, they keep on contacting me.
Thank you for sharing your thought on this question. It is a sweet experience seeing your students progressing in life after graduation in all aspects of academic career. The relationship still continues after leaving school.
One of the most pure and deeply inspirational relationships is that of a devoted teacher and a willing student. Every student has always a favorite teacher.
I am still in contact with students from twelve years ago when I began teaching. Former students periodically write me to ask philosophical or theological questions and to let me know how they're doing. The continuing relationships with students are exceptionally rewarding.

Guru-Sishya Parampara is the teacher-disciple lineage and is the best example. Being a civilization that respects experiential knowledge, we hold high respect for the teacher of such knowledge. It is separated from the socio-political structure and spans across social/political divisions since such knowledge is beyond those divisions. This is the institution that kept religion and theological practices and beliefs from occupying place in governance, and also kept the administrative structure from interfering with the institution of knowledge.
Very impressive question, thank you so much for invitation.
I am know academic lecturer, so if you are asking about my relationship as previously student? Then I have an excellent extended relationships with my respected lectures and supervisors via mobile, academic social media like the ResearchGate, conferences, supervisions,..etc, but in case of my relationships with my students, I have not more than 11 years job as a lecturer, means only 6 graduated groups and still have a brilliant interactions. Really these two kinds of relations will not diminished until death.
