I would like to compare development between virus isolates infected dried plants (since 25 years ago at 4C) with new isolates for the same virus in the region not transmitted mechanically
they can remain valid for very long as long as the leaves are kept in properly i.e away from dump conditions which can cause fungal growth. we work on cassava viruses, we keep our samples (leaves) in magazine print papers which allow air to pass through and also does not retain moisture. our samples remain in good conditions for very long.
I have infected dried samples more than 25 years (for PLRV, BWYV..) I want to compare the isolates with new one by Rt-PCR, its work with you for this long time, not for mechanical transmission.
it will be alive and well as ur viruse are RANA viruses unlike ours whose mRNA degrade in matter of day when kept outside, viruses basic stucture is a lot their genetic material hence it is made tuff and resistant to degradation, best of luck for ur real time work...
