I intend to verify the existence of temporal variability in the strontium isotopic ratio on a stream. The problem is I will not be able to send the samples for analysis right after sampling them. Martins et al. 2008 suggest storage for 28 days in a fridge. Is it possible to keep the samples for even more time?

Yes, it is usually not a problem to store water samples for strontium analysis for long periods of time. The growth of algae may be a problem which could affect the Sr concentration, but it should not change the isotopic composition.
