How it is effective to work on the specific issues such as Security, Load Balancing and routing protocol of WSNs and IoT.
Being a researcher,
What should you advise? May I continue to work on this specific topic or may I extend it to Machine learning, Cloud computing etc.

I will give you my experience. I have been worked in WSN research field from 2005 till 2017 in different topics, e.g. Routing, Load balancing and Power Consumption, Location Tracking, etc. However, when I want to apply for my promotion one of reviewer comment is why I did not work in different topic such as VANET, FANET, IoT which I have done after that. Therefore, my suggestion for your question is you have to vary your main research slightly to related research area which will be better to be convoy new development research area.

But at this stage, I am looking for PhD admission that is why I need suggestion
where to focus on.
I think you should extend it with AI in general and machine or deep learning in particular because it is the next future
