I run GC for vfa tests and the blank run was distilled water. However, it is showing some level of concentration. Is it simply contamination or what? what should I do with my analysis-re run or what?
First, have you cleaned your column lately? Either way, you could be seeing peaks from previously injected samples that have been retained on column and are now just coming off. Inject a polar solvent and run from RT to max of column and let it sit for a while. Then cool down and repeat with nonpolar solvent.
Secondly, clean the injection system. Might be a dirty syringe or inlet. If manual injection -- use a new syringe and flush syringe at least 3 times with clean solvent and then run the blank.
You can test the distilled water on another instrument to see it the distilled water source was contaminated.
