The requirements that must be met in order to prepare an Olympic champion. Do they depend only on talent,or only human and financial resources,or only modren equipment and tools,or must they all be available in order to reach the desired goal
The cost of preparing an Olympics varies from one game to another, and this is very logical, as each sport requires special training equipment and atmosphere that distinguishes it from its counterparts, but they all share the high cost required to prepare a player who can reach the Olympic tournament first, and then compete for a medal second.
"Background: The goal was to compare the achievement goal profi le and the motivational regulations of one world-class and two high-level athletes during their preparation for the Rio Olympic Games. Method: Three kayakers from the Spanish Olympic team participated. One (P1) and two (P2) were high-level athletes: fi nalists at the World and European championships, and several national championships. Participant three (P3) was a world-class athlete: 2 Olympic medals, 7 World championship medals, 4 European championship medals, and several national championships. Before and after three training sessions and 4 international competitions (including World and European championships) all participants completed a questionnaire to assess their achievement goal orientation, dominance and pursuit, as well as their motivational regulation. Generalized estimated equations (GEE) analysis was used to assess signifi cant differences between subjects. Results: P3 had lower performance-approach goal orientation, stronger mastery-approach goal dominance, lower performance-approach and performance-avoidance goal pursuit, higher mastery-avoidance goal pursuit and lower controlled motivation than the other two participants. Conclusion: Our world-class athlete has a strong mastery-approach achievement goal dominant profile, and a low performance-oriented profile (both approach and avoidance) and controlled motivation. This profile should be confirmed in similar athletes to help coaches and their young athletes make appropriate decisions."
There are many factors required to achieve international level athletic performance. I feel I am quite qualified to give advice in this area as I am/was a scientist, and I also competed nationally as powerlifter in the 1980s, and should have lifted internationally (I won't get into that story). I didn't have the best build/body levers to be a great lifter being 1.76 meters tall at 75 Kg bodyweight. Whereas most of my competitors were around 1.6 meters tall, giving them a major advantage, also most of the lifters back then took PEDs (which I did not), so I feel that I was at a considerable disadvantage. Despite this I did well for the following reasons.
1) I only trained the muscles involved in the competitive event (you don't want to add any muscle mass were it doesn't help even if the absence of beach-muscles makes you look wimpy.
2) Muscles adapt to the type of training you do, you compete on a single repetition, so I never did more than 5 repetitions on an movement (except for a few sets with very light weights as a warm-up).
3) Get your body fat percentage low (some people lose their sense of well being if they get to lean, you must avoid this... some experimentation is required).
4) Don't eat a high protein diet (the requirement of a high protein diet for muscle growth and strength is just BS, it'll make you sleepy, fatter, and increase your liver mass (because it has to work to degrade all that unneeded protein).
5) For the last few days before contest, don't eat any food with lots of fiber, you don't want lots of mass in your large intestine (feces doesn't lift weight, but adds to your mass). My normal diet is/was very high in vegetables.
6) Experiment with training volume and frequency, we are all a little different (I trained twice per day, but different lifts in the two sessions).
7) Study biomechanics and pick a lift style that matches your body levers....
I could go on further but if you analyze your goal and optimize your lifestyle as much a possible, it is possible to beat competitors with better levels, and who are taking PEDs ...... however, you are still at a large disadvantage. I can give all this info away as I haven't competed since the early 1990s. If the cheaters optimize their training etc. many could do even better.
