I have doped bismuth in place of cerium ions in my composites and my xrd results show constantly increasing crystallite sizes by increasing bismuth concentration. Similarly, increased cell volume and decreased dislocation density. I need some reference that how this kind of results could be justified. As most of the literature is based on the opposite trend. moreover, my samples with increased crystallite size, decreased dislocation density has given best photocatalytic activity. how this can be related with increased crystallite size. Experts please help.

Dear Ayesha Javaid , there can be multiple factors associated with the increase in photocatalytic activity, namely higher surface area to volume ratio, formation of heterojunction pairs, defects in the crystal structure, band gap, etc.
