I just received the "decision" from a journal regarding my submission, and amazingly the Reviewers (rare in phytoplasma world) were really nice and supportive. One had to "major' concerns, but really easy to address and without any influence in the final conclusions. Still the Editor rejected the paper.
If the editor would be working with phytoplasmas I would say he had a hidden agenda ...
This publication/journals/editors thing is getting very frustrating everyday ....

Hi, the editor might have rejected the paper based on the fact that you may have not done the corrections following the reviewers' comments or may be the paper does not meet up with quality of the paper the editor require with journal.
You don't have to stick yourself to that journal. You may want to choose a realistic and reasonable journal. It goes without saying that we should choose the journal that is specialized in the paper's topic. Nevertheless, I agree with you that this editor-journal-problem needs to be addressed.
I would ask the editor for the reasons for their rejection, particularly in light of the reviewers comments (neither of whom appears to have rejected the paper outright).
Although an editor is the final arbiter of what appears in a journal, to over-rule the reviewers is an unusual action for an editor to take, particularly without giving their reasons.
