During ray-tracing, the active medium is divided into a total of 18,000 zones. The path length in each zone is found. With this value and the effective absorption coefficient, the absorbed power within the laser
medium can be calculated by summing up the absorbed pump radiation of all zones. The absorbed pump flux data from the ZEMAX analysis is then processed by LASCAD software to study the laser beam parameters of the Nd:YAG single-crystal rods.
