Some authors do not prescribe exercises when bracing for IS is iniated. On the contrary I administer exercises in combination with bracing because kinesitherapy prevents muscle hypotrophy and maintains the spine flexibility and good posture.
I do agree with Prof. Tanchev. The typical American approach to deny the general postive effects of excersise ( movement !) and postural guidance in treatment for all spinal deformities has brought a lot of inconvenience for the children and their Orthopedics. In the knowledge of proper bodily development of children we know, that all mobility ( like in playing) adds to condition of muscles, good postures and complete range of motion. The earlier in sedentary children ( Gameboygeneration after the TV generation) you change their habits and train their posture etc. the less deformity you will get. If bracing is necessary, the TLI technique offers the preservation of mobility and muscular strenghth under sagital normalisation of posture, but optimalisation of the complete treatment must be garanteed by intensive excersises too,
