I want to ascertain the level of interaction in a MIMO process and I am looking at various ways of doing that. I came across the SVD method in the book by Seborg and I would like to know how efficient it is. Is the relative gain array (RGA) method better than this ?
P.S. - I am asking the question strictly from a control system perspective.
As i know, the SVD decomposed the channel matrix H to three sub-matrices, and by using precoding and equalization, the channel matrix will be converted to a diagonal matrix of decreased channel gains, thereby the spatial interference will be mitigated without noise enhancement. For best understanding you must read the section 5.5.3.1 at page 180 in the book entitled "Fundamentals of WiMAX: understanding broadband wireless networking" for the authors J. Andrews et al., i hope to benefit you in my answer.

He shows that it achieved the MIMO capacity. That paper is very nicely written, so I highly recommend it!
