The nonlinear refraction index is linearly correlated to incident light ( laser) irradiance. On the other hand, the absorption coefficient is proportional to imaginary part of complex refraction index. Hence, the absorption coefficient is linearly dependent on temperature for CW thermal lasers. In fact, heat increases with exposure time and temperature rises subsequently, then it makes absorption coefficient scale up leading to further increase of temperature and so on. Despite it is true for CW thermal (IR ) laser, more or less it may be expanded to the case of pulsed laser with short exposure time. However, the laser fluence is significant to match the thermal interaction criteria i.e, the pulsed energy with nano- second or femto-sec durations may exhibit quite different fluence.
