I'm keen to learn more about the impacts of good communication, especially as it relates to and is crucial for specimen management practices in clinical laboratories.
In relation to the journal entitled, "Tenets of Specimen Management in Diagnostic Microbiology", the central point of this research question is the relationship between efficient communication among laboratory personnel and physicians; focusing on its impact on specimen management procedures.
Having efficient communication in the workplace gives a positive outcome for the betterment of patient's diagnosis. The communication factors that shall be given considerations are as follows:
a. Instruction clarity;
b. Communication timeliness/relevance; and
c. Accuracy of information being interchanged.
All things considered, close and positive working relationship minimizes the work errors, improves laboratory workflow, and enhances overall patient care. With these, efficient communication within the workplace must be given importance as like the other laboratory procedures.
Just as the cliché but very true saying goes, "Communication is key," having an environment where good communication is fostered and respected, is a determining factor in whether or not a clinical laboratory flourishes or fails.
Like in many other work spaces, efficient and effective communication between and amongst the laboratory personnel and physicians is vital in ensuring that they are able to deliver the best possible service and treatment for their patients. It minimizes confusion, helps in creating a great team dynamic and aids in the accuracy and precision of lab procedures.
And generally speaking, having great communication with colleagues is simply better for each and everyone's well-being, establishing a happy lab that will see to it that they have happy patients :)
