Recently, the hardness of sea water can be cured by graphite oxide. I want to know the detail. I am working on graphite and any type of graphite can do that, or some specific variety is required.
This could be achieved by proper modification of GO that could possess ion exchange property or can have dye degradation activity.
GO based membranes cross-linked by 1,3,5-benzenetricarbonyl trichloride, on a polydopamine-coated polysulfone support reported in literature purifies water
by size exclusion and charge effects.Link given below

Graphene oxide synthesized through Hummers method itself consists of hydroxyl and oxygen radicals having the potential to degrade the organic pollutants. However, if it is loaded with appropriate amount of oxides like TiO2 capable of generating holes with high redox potential, the composite under illumination can act as a good catalyst for the degradation of range pollutants present in water.
