Environmental factors influence the evolution of a species. For instance, take the case of bacteria. Some strains of bacteria develop drug resistance when exposed to the drug inside the body. Presence of a drug in it's environment is an influence. How is this sensed as lethal by the bacteria and how does the cell take corrective action, i.e. alter the DNA suitably to develop resistance? How can we generalize this for the rest of the living beings?
