If the extract of plant is used directly by mixing it with the medium, then the mechanism of inhibition is quite direct.

But, what if the plant was already within a coating and the coating is then applied onto the metal. Based on my studies, I found that coating with plant extract have higher inhibition rate for corrosion than the same coating without it.

My question is, what is it (mechanism) that plant extract within the coating do since its not outside anymore to combine with negative ions and etc that cause the coating to increase in its efficiency?
