A lot will depend on your experience, skills, and willingness to give your own time. Almost anything can be accomplished by a small group, and much can be done for any topic by one person.  The main thing is consistency.  If the problem is large, plan to spend years or decades working at it, as one person.  If you are going to involve others, plan for a few years where your sole task is finding people and helping them to do what you would like accomplished.

Jesus  had some good goal formulations: Heal the sick, comfort the afflicted.  These are simple, objective, tasks that one individual can take on, assign, or nurture.

I set up a small group whose sole task was to prevent famine worldwide.  It has been operating with government funding since the mid-80's.  It has amerliorated the more serious famines from natural causes - flood, drought, pest, labor force and agricultural input restrictions, lack of education, lack of information, and the like.  It has not done so well where there is civil war, roving gangs, greed, and active human oppression.  The core group is half a dozen people. The instructions are simple - find, document, and share everything you can find that relates to the potential for famine,  Do the same and continually track resources for correcting situations.  Monitor and report.

One of my hobbies is sculpture, so for ten years I spent about 20 hours a week building and maintaining a site called Sculptor.Org.  I found every organization related to sculpture, and every sculptor/carver/modeller/3D worker on the web.  I reviewed their website, gave them specific feedback and help to make it better.  I encouraged cooperation, professionalism, conscientious attention to customer needs.  I stopped when it got to 50,000 unique visitors each month.  They averaged 15 minutes using the site, and from statistical surveys I determined that the average time saved was hours to weeks.  So the site had a multiplier effect.  The people saved roughly 50,000 hours a month (about 70 man months per month), so my part time effort became manyfold.  But it took a lot of work.  Today I could do the same in ten months.

In the past 20 years, I have applied these lessons to the Internet Foundation.  To apply the lessons learned to all society - to all the issues, topics and unsolved problems.  To all the opportunities, routine tasks and needs of the people on the planet.  I have had some successes, but mostly I have tried to refine the tools to accomplish what you are vaguely considering - "there must be some way to use the Internet to help people", and "I want to help".  

I have reviewed many tens of thousands of topics and efforts.  They mostly fail from greed, ego, envy, sloth, uncaring enthusiasm, dominance, and a host of technical barriers.

Due diligence is a good starting point.  Have your spent 1000 hours locating, documenting, contacting and helping the people already doing what you think needs to be done?  Do you know the names, people involved, issues arising, resources and tools used - the complete profile - of everyone "assisting in natural disasters" for instance?  Not just a list or static database, but a dynamic, living awareness of everything going on?  Do you correspond daily with all these groups, find where they are stuck, find resources and solutions?  Constantly look ahead to anticipate the rocks in their road?  Have you adopted a topic, nurtured and cared for it?

That, last, is my 1000 hour rule.  If I have not spent 1000 hours on something, working as hard as I can, as carefully as I can, I consider I am just beginning to get a glimmer of how to help.  Yes, working on one topic gives you a little experience for others, but every person, organization, and issue is unique.  Each deserves its own 1000 hours.  If you work seven days a week, 16 hours a day, that is about 6000 hours a year.  Not much, but if you use these multiplier effects, if your goal is to save other people time in finding what they need to get your main job done, you can become a thousand or a million, or more.

In summary, I am recommending you get an internet presence and begin to document the people, organizations and issues involved in just one of the goals you stated.  Stay simple and use methods you can teach others.  Don't become prideful.  Don't expect money or remuneration or fame or help or anyone caring.  Just methodically get the job done - help the world improve the situation in one area.  You will not be able to do it through traditional means.  Those always fail because of human weaknesses. If you get mired in petty things, shake the dust off your sandals. Never give up.

I would suggest that you reach out to Kim Burgo at Catholic Charities, USA who is expert in this area. She leads their disaster case management and disaster response program. She should be able to be contacted through their headquarters office.  My second recommendation is to reach out the National Organizations Active in Disaster. It is the professional group to which most NGOs and faith-based organizations coordinate.

(Collins, Richard (2017),  I have spent 1000 hours putting out information and sharing the Word of God in English and Spanish to the community and forming prayer and support for other causes, as well as networking with other Biblical Websites or Pages on Facebook.   Do you know the names, people involved, issues arising, resources and tools used - the complete profile - of everyone "assisting in natural disasters" for instance?  (Collins, Richard (2017), No, I do not know the names of people involved, issues arising (to a certain degree) and resources I have shared are great for those who are seeking to get deeper in the Word of God and even Pastors and Ministers.  Perhaps I am guilty of having just a list or static database, but I desire a more living awareness of everything going on and to be a part of helping the community if we can at Lifting Up the Name of Jesus, LUNJ.  I  need to correspond daily with all these groups, find where they are stuck, find resources and solutions, and to constantly look ahead to anticipate the rocks in their roads.
