Is there a set manner in which a journal develops its ranking globally, and more specifically in the UK? What are the metrics? Who is the arbiter?
The best way to increase the impact factor:
The Journal must increase the visibility and citation of papers published.

Accepting to publish good research papers and have diverse avenues for dessiminating them for international readership
Some journals demand to cite their own articles independently of the manuscript content.
with good scientific papers containing originality .
