I am using the Stöber method (TEOS and NaOH) to add silica to gold nanoparticles. I have been successful in adding the silica and purifying the particles by centrifugation. However, after several days the silica is gone. This includes the silica nanoparticles that are not on the surface of the gold. The pH of the solution is around 5.5-6.
Does anyone know how I can stabilize the silica on the particles?

You don't write the silicon dioxide has dissolved or gone into a solvent. The stability of silica nanoparticles is better at pH = 9-10. Check out the article.

In the first step prepared a gel with use of TEOS and NaOH and after aging time about 1 day a dispersed Au solution add to gel and then under hydrothermal condtion at autoclave or reflux prepare a powder.
