Spirooxazine dye has been incorporated within an organic-inorganic hybrid silica material (organo-silsesquioxane) and fabricated as a thin film. Previously, the film showed sensational color changes upon UV light irradiation (in this case, turned from colorless to deep blue) and then reverted back to colorless.

However, it only performed the photochromatic color changes up to around 10 days before we ended up with unreverted blue color film.

Are there any strategies to extended the life (shelf-life) of the film to perform photochromism? Some have advised on the addition of an antioxidant.

Can somebody suggest suitable antioxidants for spirooxazine and naphthospiroxazine?
