I have already read this question. The problem is that if I would have to use solid elements to model the reinforcemt my analysis time will increase a lot. I would like to know if there is another way to constraint the reinforcement as a "wire" element in concrete in thermal or coupled thermal-stress analysis.

in this work, we have presented thermo-mechanical response consisting of heat transfer and mechanical analyses of high-strength steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) columns. Here, the concrete and steel reinforcing bars were modeled respectively using continuum brick and truss elements, of course with additional temperature degree of freedom, for coupled temperature-displacement analysis. Note that, the truss element is tied to the concrete elements surrounding it by using the TIE constraint option.
