Sialic acid is a broad term that encompasses numerous derivations of the core neuraminic acid (NA). I have used enzymes to cleave the NA, pH to dissociate it, lectins to bind it and chemicals to convert it. I am just not happy with each one for one reason or another. Please respond with how YOU would measure or detect any or all types of NA. I hope that we may all benefit from understanding this important immune regualtory carbohydrate.
