Learning in my course that involve students is as follows:

1. After I deliver part of the session, I pose problems to the students. They answer the questions individually. They can also make observations, if they like (Cooperative learning).

2. Each group of about 6 students prepares a case for each session. I can invite any of the 10 groups to make a presentation on the case. After that, individual students are invited to answer issues related to the case. They are given marks for insightful interventions and answers (Collaborative as well as cooperative learning)

3. Each group goes to field or searches literature and does a project, which is submitted to me for evaluation at the end of the term (Collaborative learning).

4. Each student takes four quizzes online during the course.(Cooperative learning)

I am not sure I can very clearly make the distinction. But in most of my courses I have incorporated these three things:

1. Home assignments with tutorial in class time allocated. In these all students work independently but can consult among themselves as well as me when they have problems.

2. Group assignments where the students work in groups of three each for longer time throughput the semester.

3. Individual project. The same project is worked by all students as individuals. They can consult among themselves in terms of the solutions.

So 1 and 3 come as cooperative while 2 comes as collaborative as per the definition.

Whenever they find something on "reality scale of existence", they quickly incline to learn (especially during Role plays, In basket exercises, Brainstorms, paper presentations, project / research work; rolling out events such as seminars etc.,),....

Students are now a days quite receptive and can easily identify an "enrichment session" due to the prevailing Knowledge content revolution in their finger tips...They are more tech savvy and at ease to adapt to newer leanings....

I give talks on getting published in medical education. I try to group people into teams and get them to co-author an article together. Often I follow up via email to find out how they have done. I find that getting to do something constructive and tangible as they are working is the best way to encourage collaboration.

Team work in a class can be done in many ways whether discussions at the end of class or delivering a session or working on a project. I think that a careful mix of direct, convergent, and divergent problems works best.

One example that I sue is a discussion at the end of a lab. session instead of a lecture at the start. an open ended question at the end of a lecture five minutes for discussion in class and a possible solution at home to be done in a group of three.

Yes. Prof.Adel one way is active learning by team work discussion and debate but can we do it using technology as discussion on chatroom provide by google plus.

When I was teaching in University, we usually have low level students, students that like to study something else, but they succeed to enter mathematics. So an 70-80 percent ware indifferent. So my objective was, not cooperative and collaborative learning, but how to increase their interest in mathematics, hopping that afterwards, they will gain something positive. Teacher should be burning, and this fire should be transferred to students. We should note in addition that at some time there is soem kind of mode: cooperative, collaborative, embodied approach, etc. These are good as far as not distract the teacher from his main objective.

Regarding the co operative vs collaborative learning debate, I find that the best approach is to get the learners to concentrate on achieving a learning goal by means of collaboration. They should learn to co operate as they go – almost without realising that they are doing it. Using simulation can be an effective way to encouraging these modes of team learning.

It is essential to achieve the Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO) by cooperative and collaborative learning.

I like ILO, but in my papers I always use Emerging Learning Objects (ELO) and Confguration Learning Objects (CLO) in order to support collaboration through the students results. This way the students also build LO and the collaboration is promoted by reusing and sharing them.

For us (I worked with Verdejo), collaboration means "same goal" for the students, so the final result (physical outcome) must be modified by all them.

I think that papers from Pierre Dillenbourg must be revised when researching about this topic.

I concentrate on both in every class I teach.  I propose project based learning to students divided unto teams of 3 to max. 5 members.  Establish a set of self appointed coordinators per team ... insist on face-to-face exchange as well as computer mediated exchange and even promite team to team exchange of knowledge and experiences.  Team based evaluation is some times used and team challenge is also used.  A goal based scenario (Roger Schank) is used to focus teams missiin and tasks.  It us a guided

Our study was situated with an aim to investigate the strategies that Thai and Singaporean students use while working on collaborative English writing projects. The objective of the teacher interviews was to explore the strategies used by the teachers in encouraging collaborative student work. English language Teachers from Thailand and from Singapore were asked questions related to five facets of student collaboration: intrinsic value, perceived value, noise, teacher intervention, and assessment. The interview responses were then used to create a dual perspective and to support data generated from a student survey.
