Unfortunately, many of the scientific journals still pursue a boring and unclear policy in delaying the final decision to either accept or to reject the research. The consequences are wasting time and efforts of researcher and perhaps missing the opportunity to improve the research and to apply for the most appropriate Journal.

it is never easy and never nice to get a paper rejected by a journal.
I advise not to give up at this stage but try to understand the reasons for the rejections. It can (sometimes) be difficult to find out why a journal has rejected a certain paper. It might be the paper does not fit to the journal, the reviewers have too many critical remarks, the research reported is not considered original, the length of the text, the state-of-the-art that is reflected in the paper …
Try to find out and then decide what you can do about it. Should you resubmit to another journal? Should you revise and improve your paper (always advisable) and resubmit, even to the same journal? These are questions to think about once you understood the motivation for the rejection. If it is not possible to find out, I would directly contact the responsible journal editor and ask for clarification.

I used to feel disappointed, now I feel excited. This has a lot to do with my personal perspective or maturity if you will. Back when I used to feel disappointed, the submission of an article was more for a recognition as a researcher. We all started out this way. These days, rather than status, the submission is for the sharing of an idea that I believe is important for others to know. If it is rejected, it could mean that presentation style is not appropriate or the targeted audience is not suitable. An idea is always good to share.
Of course, the waiting time is a bummer. I would wait about two months only. Anything longer is a sign of rejection or inefficiency.
