Ramón, la gente de SNI evalúa principalmente artículos que estén en Journal Citation Reports (de Thomson). Los capítulos de libro y memorias de congreso también cuentan, así como la formación de recursos humanos (tesistas). Las evaluaciones IUCN son muy importantes, pero no quedan dentro de un rubro específico que los de SNI consideren.

En todo caso, podría quedar como divugación científica.

There is a difference between "an IUCN Assessment" and "an assessment using the IUCN criteria". The first is a formal exercise run under the auspices of IUCN in which all the supporting evidence for assessment has to be made available through a a portal called SIS. There are very strict protocols that have to be followed and documented throughout. The Assessment process follows the IUCN Guidelines of course, as does the publication strategy

The second of the two sorts of assessment are those using the IUCN criteria. These may be somewhat less formal but do not carry the international cachet of IUCN. There are a number of regional red lists that are of this sort that are claimed to be "IUCN Assessments", but are not because the documentation and supporting evidence is lacking.

Thanks a lot Stuart. I was referring to the former of the two. As a former IUCN Shark Specialst Group member, I led the official IUCN Red List assessment of a shark species and was wondering how I could get that acknowledged by the Mexican science and technology council.
