I have a question about methanol tolerance test for evaluation oxygen reduction reaction electrocatalysts.
I want to know how the test is done؟
I do it as follows:
First, oxygen gas is blown in 0.1 M KOH solution for one hour.
Then, at 1600 rpm (RDE), chronoamperometric is performed for the electrode at a specific potential.
And after, for example, 500 s, the methanol is injected into the solution at once.
Is this a correct method?

Dear Nasrin Moradbeigi A more accurate method for determining methanol tolerance is to measure ORR in 0.1 M KOH and 0.1 M KOH+ Methanol separately. You will notice an obvious difference in the LSV pattern (poor methanol tolerance) or no change in LSV (good methanol tolerance). Better try incremental concentrations of Methanol, starting from low conc. such as 0.1M, 0.5M, 1.0M so on.

It is well known that the electrolyte in direct methanol fuel cells is an acidic electrolyte. Why would you perform a catalyst resistance test to methanol toxicity for an alkaline ORR? This rarely has an application. @Shahid Zaman
