Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) is a very surface sensitive technique which requires a very careful surface preparation. When do you start to believe, your surface preparation is sufficient? What you are doing if you want derive geometrically necessary dislocation from small misorientations? Is there another preparation required, and if yes, when do I know there is no relevant deformation anymore from preparation, especially e.g. in materials which are intentionally heavily deformed and no recrystallized crystals?
