I have been trying to make a 0.5M EDTA solution by dissolving EDTA disodium salt dihydrate in 500mL of purified water and adjusting the pH to ~8.0 so that the salt dissolves. To aid in the dissolution I have put the solution on a stir plate and heated it slightly. However, I need to bring the pH of the solution back down to 7.4 for my experimental design. The issue I am having is that I need to add a large volume of HCl to the solution to decrease the pH , which then decreases the concentration of my EDTA. Does anyone have any suggestions to get around this issue?
