We are in a head watershed with a sandstone fractured lithology covered with a shallow sandy loam soil, at some places there is no soil and the fresh fractured rock outctops, no deep-rooted trees. The climate is semi-arid. I need to estimate the evaporation (I expect no transpiration takes place at the groundwater table) only and to make use of it in a catchment water balance. Thank you.

It is not mentioned that what is the depth to water table below ground level. Though there are no "deep rooted" trees, how about other type of trees or plants and their depth of root penetration. Root depth upto the capillary zone is enough for transpiration, no need the roots should touch the water table.
Hello Albaba, thank you for your reply. But the method proposed rrquires at least hourly water levels while I only have weekly and be-weekly data.
