i am dealing with household data, there is one variable percapita household expenditure, it has same value for all household member because the variable of expenditure is collected as household variable and i want to use it as household members variable. So when i compute it, as this give one value for one household, the value for rest of household members becomes missing.
here is an example
H1a 789
H1b .
H1c .
H1d .
H2a 860
H2b .
H2c .
H3a 4398
H3b .
H3c .
H3d .
H3e .
what i want to do is to copy 789 upto H1d and 860 upto H2c and 4398 uto H3e and so on, how can i do this?

if you want to copy data from one raw to another, then SPSS data view click on the serial number which belongs to data you want to copy, then click on the serial number where you want to paste.
same thing you can do for copying columns.

You can use the LAG command. E.g.,
* Replace my variable names with your own.
SORT CASES by Household CaseWithinHouse.
IF MISSING(PerCapitaExpend) PerCapitaExpend = LAG(PerCapitaExpend).
EXECUTE.
