I am trying to cure the Epoxy resin. Bisphenol A is my epoxy resin.
1. The only epoxy is placed in room temperature in a die for 3 days but there is no change.
2. It was dry in a vacuum oven for 1 hour at 70 C again the same result, remain liquid.
Mixed Epoxy with MEKP hardener as 2:1 Ratio
3. Wait for the mixture solidify 3 days at room temperature, Still in liquid form.
4. Dry in a vacuum oven for 50 min at 40 C, cool it in 1 hour. But we fail again to solidify.
Is there any suggestion from the expert corner?

Hi Nazmus, for your epoxy/hardener to cure you need to have the correct ratio between them. Was the 2:1 ratio specified by the supplier?
Usually the resin supplier will provide you with its curing conditions, some resins might cure at ambient conditions while other only at elevated temperatures.

Typically curing of epoxies is done with acids, anhydrides, thiols, alcohols, phenols and amines. Essentially anything with a reactive hydrogen.
MEKP is used mainly for curing polyesters as opposed to epoxies. It will most likely be more effective to use the MEKP as a catalyst while using one of the other compounds above as the crosslinking agent.
Check your epoxy/hardener ratio. Also, verify the curing temperature. You can check this via DSC/TGA.
if you want to cure epoxy resin , you can choose the right harder, usually,when you use the Amine curing agent ,imidazole, anhydride curing agent in a suitable ratio, you can get solid cured epoxy. in your system,i suggest you check the reaction by dsc,or add some cobalt accelerator,just like catalyst, maybe get a fast speed. of course ,read some books about basic epoxy and formulations ,they are benefit for your experiments. good luck,best wishes.
