I have read articles where photolithography is performed successfully on a paper substrate. One article said they dipped the paper into the SU-8 and then put it onto the spinner. My thoughts are that the SU-8 would go into the vacuum chuck of the spinner, or not be sturdy enough to stay on the chuck/for the photoresist to spread evenly. Another article said they "impregnated" the paper with SU-8.
Hi Lichtenberg, so far I know dipping the paper into the SU-8 first for a short time and then putting it onto the spinner should work.
I normally use aluminium foil to cover the inside of the spin coater (including platform in your case). The SU-8 won't go into the vacuum chuck because of the centrifugal force of the spin (But be careful with the amount of SU-8). Dipping is fine if you are interested to coat both sides. I prefer dropping (whole surface of the paper) and then spin. Good luck.
