02 February 2021 6 696 Report

Good morning,

I am running a correlation on phantom pain levels and self esteem scores in lower limb amputees. initially the data was reported as not normally distributed with the pain scale providing a z value of -3.15 violating the assumptions of a pearsons. However the data is not monotonous which means I cannot run a spearmans. After finding a reference (Hair, 2009) which suggested -3.15 was acceptable based on the sample size, I have justified this in my report.

Of course this still suggests there are outliers within the data which I have pinpointed, however they are influence outliers so I want to include them. How do I report this within the text. To give it some context they are all my participants who reported no phantom pain.

I hope that makes sense. Thanks to anyone who offers their time.
