You refer to it by mentioning that it is "in press".
Reference list: Author Last name, First. Middle. initials, Second Author Last Name, First. Middle. Initials, {& so on}. (year date). Title of Article. Source Journal, vol.(issue), retrieved from https://www-sciencedirect-com.vu-nl.idm.oclc.org/science/article/pii/S1053482217301055.
in text: (Author Last Name, Second Author Last Name, & Third Author Last Name, copywrite year). If you have other articles referencing the same statement, their names followed by the copywrite dates all go inside the parenthesis separated by a semi colon {;}.
