Good day. I am doing a studu on the use of fish scales to create a nano filter. This is aimed at potentially solving the face mask problem brought about the pandemic. This is what I know so far
1. Fish scales contain Hydroxyapatite.
2. The cell wall structure of fish scales exhibit porous properties.
3. Electrospun hydroxyapatite can be used to create a nano filter to filter air.
As I do my literature review, I find it hard to find very similar studies on fish scales. I just chose thsi study because I knew that I could find hydroxyapatite on fish scales and hydroxyapatite can be synthesized to create a nano filter. Do you all think that my reasoning is sound?
I really want to pursue this research however I am finding a difficult time justifying the use of fish scales to synthesize a nano filter. I really need help.

Google 'comminution limit' You can't produce nanoparticles (< 100 nm) from a top-down comminution process. The use of ('nano') silver is as a bactericide not as a filter, so I'm not sure what your point is.

Are you sure, your proposed mask will not allow virus particles to pass through. What is the size of virus particles? What will be the pore size of your proposed mask? Your project is interesting, needs some polishing though.
Thank you all for your answers. What do you think should I consider if I continue this study? If the nanofilter has a size of 0.03 and 0.1 microns do you think it is possible to synthesize a nanofilter using the fish scales? Do you think electrospinning is a good process to synthesize the mask or is there an easier way to get through this.
