I used 900 W magnetron to heat 3 kg SiC (pulverized) to 1200 degree C but it could reach only 500 degree C in 1 hr. Should I increase the number of magnetron i.e. 900W x 4 magnetron = 3.6 kW or should I use one big magnetron i.e. 3.6 kW to achieve my desired temperature of 1200 degree C. Please guide
If time longer required time is not the constrain, increasing number of magnetron for required heating would be more safer, economical and accurate....

In addition to the previous answers, you should also check the thermic properties of your system: to reach 1200°C you need proper thermal isolation. If the temperature during your first attempt was linearly increasing with time, then just follow the previous suggestions. If, instead, the temperature was no longer increasing after 1 hour, most likely you have to improve the thermal isolation.
Even with perfect isolation, however, don't expect the job to be quick: warming 3 kg of SiC, having a specific heat of approximately 1000J/kg/K, with a 900W source will take about 30 minutes even in a nearly perfect environment.
