Shelling of cowpeas is a post harvest operation carried out to remove cowpea grains from the pods. The need to reduce the stress and time associated with the manual method of decorticating cowpea, gave rise to the conceptual design and construction of this machine. There are so many problems associated with the manual method of processing cowpea. These include breakages of the copwea when shelling, and the introduction of foreign materials like stones and dirty particles. My work is make the understanding of designing and fabricating the cowpea decorticating machine.
