Hello All, I am working on interpolating rainfall erosivity data in ArcMap 10.1 using the Goestatistical interpolation tool. I have data covering 6 sites. What i am getting however using IDW, does not fit in with the range of values used in the interpolation. And this is still the case when i changed the environment in the geostastical analysis to max from the default mean. For instance while the maximum number from the table is 3100+, using any of the interpolation tools, even with max values gives a maximum of say 2,100 in the map. My questions is how do i correct this anomaly to make sure the map display covers the range in the table. This is critical, otherwise the values in the map will not be a true reflection of the situation according to the data used in producing the table. I have tried using the mean, all and mini values and none seems to make much sense
I think you can do this in properties, but I am unsure about having only the six sites of measurement. When you right click on the values in that coverage, there is a number of items that come up in properties, and one or two have to do with the range of data and you can set the number of categories and use various color patterns if you like to your data. I suggest you try that. I cannot tell you much more, but it sounds like you need to avoid the mean and default and find the property where you set the scale for that data and number of divisions.

@William F Hansen, what i have done is to alter the conditions in the environment settings as rightly indicated from the average or default to the max. That is giving me a more meaningful value which is close to the calculated. But what did you mean by not being sure of the 'six sites of measurement' Thanks for the response anyway.
Just to see more clearly your problem, may we clarify the situation?
- You have six georeferenced observation.
- You would like to produce a map.
- For spatial inference you use interpolation technique(s) built in ARCGIS.
- You find, that the range of values in the interpolated map differs from the range of the six observation.
- And you don't like this result.
Is this the case?
@Laszlo Pasztor, Ya spot on, that is exactly the case. By the way i have done is to change the environment to use max values instead of the default average values and that give far higher values, close to what is in the table
