I want to develop a rainfall erosivity map for my study area to be used also as an input to the RUSLE formular. The data is from a single rain gauge in the study area spanning over 30yrs and i am wondering if anyone has an idea how i can use this to develop the rainfall erosivity map.
Its an interesting question. As I am sure you know, the RUSLE was developed in USA and probably needs some validation or verification when used under different conditions. I have never seen the process of converting rainfall frequency, intensity and duration to R factor, but it has to do with rainfall energy to dislodge soil particles and move them in runoff. I have not compared IDF maps such as TP40 with R factor map to determine if any rainfall frequency and duration maps with lines of equal rainfall appear to be closely related. If you cannot find a process you can apply, consider trying to find conditions similar to yours that have been rated. Singlr raingage data with 30 years of rainfall detail (intensity, duration, amounts) should be sufficient. If I find something applicable, I will send.
