I would need some help in graph drawings by specifying x and y coordinates of vertices.
Attached is the standard IEEE-14 bus/nodes power network. I had made a graph out of this network in MATLAB by manually entering the x and y coordinates of each vertex so that they would look the same as in this network (attached) .
But it would be an arduous task if I specify x and y coordinates manually for larger networks.
Are there any algorithms which would generate the x and y coordinates for the vertices and replicate their locations in the graph from the given original network?

You can export all the data with the following steps.
First, you should save the original figure as a MATLAB figure, (example.fig).
Secondly, write and run the following script:
open('example.fig');
a = get(gca,'Children')
xdata = get(a, 'XData')
ydata = get(a, 'YData')
zdata = get(a, 'ZData')
Finally, you can see all the exported data from the MATLAB's workspace.
