It has been confirmed that the length of cyst could reflect the length of sperm in Drosophila melanogaster. In order to measure the length of sperm, I tried several times with several ways (from published papers) to dissect testes in Drosophila Ringer's Solution but seldom succeeded in separating cysts from each other, normally because cysts stick to the the tips of dissecting needles.
Is there anyone who has the experience in separating Dorsophila cysts, or has better idea?

Firstly, although I haven't dissected Drosophila (live), I have carried out micro-dissections on Insect reproductive tracts of other species to quantify variations.
I can relate to your problem wherein some bits of the reproductive tract is very sticky, stickier than other traits. In Callosobruchus maculatus (the seed weevil) I've had this issue in the past.
From your question, I take it that you have been using dissecting needles as opposed to fine tip entomological forceps! Fine tip entomological forceps are great little tools that make micro-dissections easier. You could carry out a search on google: "fine tip entomological forceps". Also see (http://www.roboz.com/forceps_dumont.asp). I use something similar to carry out micro-dissections on red flour beetles.
